Shopping date February 28, 2007

Met Shar for dinner this evening. She looks great. At least the sales girl at Body Shop thought so.
Shar thought I totally embarass her at Body Shop when I was talking up to this sales girl behind the counter. For whatever reasons, I never thought of Shar in any of the relationship way before. Shar just refused to date me. Well, I guess working with someone for too long or know someone for too long is a bad thing.
Some theories state that a couple should be totally comfortable with each other as friends. I said that is bs. I have known a lot of girls whom I am totally comfortable with and either/both of us just will not think of dating each other. Mutual understanding is important. But at this age, its a ‘You got interest or not?’ situation. Its either friendship or romance. You can develop friendship out of romance, but the other way is something I have not witness too often. Being friends for a short period of time, yes…but not protracted period of time. It will just wash that kinda feeling (spark) away.
As we were walking around to help her kill time before she meet with her current flame (Ok ok..I am making it sound like she dates a lot of guys.. well, truth is she does not.), she saw this gown that she thought would be nice to have. She asked if it looked like an bed wear. My respond was ‘How would I know? The girls I sleep with have nothing on..’ She thought I was totally mad.
We went on to spend my money on a kaki pants ($58) for me and a wind chime ($39) for my apartment.
Initially, I wanted to buy some cushions for my DB. But guess what..at $85 a piece, I think DB can do without it for a while more. The cover that interest me was at $150 a piece. Geezz..
Later, her date got delayed and we had more time to spend together. Actually, its more like me keeping her company until her time to meet her date. I said that is madness. For argument sake, she asked me why I think that.
Here’s my theory:
- Planning.. you have to plan ahead. If you know your time is not going to be stable, then dun make plans.
- Rude.. its rude to make plans with your friends and loved ones, then not giving them the full benefit of the time. Coming late and leaving early. Shar said catching up for that while is worth it. I think that is bs. If friends are treated like that, then you are being rude. Would you join your clients late and excuse to leave early right after you eaten your dinner?
- Huh.. I think skipping meals are a person’s own problem. If you are busy, buy a sandwich before going into the office. Get a colleague to buy a snack as they are going for their breaks. Are you telling me that banks do not have a pantry with a single biscuit in them? I skipped enough lunches to say that its crap excuse to go hungry. I had enough emergency to handle and taking friends and loved ones for granted all the time is not forgivable.
Bah.. who am I to say.
Gathering February 27, 2007

We gather here today for the reason of…
There are many reason why we gather. We gather together to celebrate with the people we know, respect and/or love. This is the festive period where people gather to celebrate the beginning of a new and hopefully prosperous year.
We are supposed to say good things, be positive and work to our best in all aspects of our lives. Good things only come to people who are ready for them.
There is no reason to bash the meals we are having. Yu Sheng…a local invention that has gone out of proportion. Dun order it then. But its almost a must. Does it taste bad, no..I think its quite tasty. I enjoyed everytime I have this dish. Even if I have to have it 2 meals a day. Its just that I have the company of people to be able to do this with.
There are people…I am sure you have come across them who complains about them having to have Yu Sheng every day..how tiring it is..how boring it is.. I have even come across someone who complained about a perfectly well prepared bowl of shark fin soup and that someone even suggested that shark fin soup should not be consumed for the good of nature. Of course, he only had 2 more helpings of the shark fin soup. He also went to say how boring dinner is as he has to come back to the same restaurant the very next day for lunch. So? Dun eat what you do not want. If it is a must-go situation, then enjoy it. What is there to complain if it is a real complain? What is there to brag about that you have a good meal and delicacy every day? No one is forcing food down your throat.
Make it your problem February 26, 2007

I find it difficult to understand why people think that when someone tell them a problem, they must get themselves involve. If I hear the news of Iran going ahead with their nuclear program, do I need to start panicking and fly there to demonstrate my insecurities?
I find it difficult to understand why people think that when someone tell me a problem, they expect me to get involve. I can provide suggestions and advice, but when it comes to actually getting involve, its my own choice to want or not want to get involve. Just because I lend a ear, doesnt mean that I am willing to go through fire and hell for ya.
Leave me the hell alone (from your problems). I have mine too. Want me to pass them to your plate? If you do not care about my problems, why do you think I should care about yours? If you brush away my problems as nothing, what makes you think that your problem is big in my view?
Problems are challenges that will help us grow. When we help someone consistently, we are denying that opportunity of growth to that someone. Sometimes, suffering is necessary. We can only cheer them on to make the situation more bearable but not totally comfortable. If they fall and refuse to get up, no one else can help them. If they die, then they die.
Visiting February 26, 2007

Went to visit my friends over the weekend.
Some of them already have a 2-3 year old kid running around. While I am still ok with kids, what I cannot stand is the constant exchange of diaper stories. Do you think I care if the kid likes to watch Barney instead of Sesame street? I know you are proud of your kids, I am happy for you too, but you dun have to keep throwing it in my face. If I keep telling you the different pubs I visit on a weekly basis, will you be interested as well?
Kids are spoilt. They are too clean. Parents fuzz too much. Friends of parents fuzz too much. They need some germs to grow and stay healthy, u know. No, I dun suggest feeding them shit, but if they wanna suck on their toys, let them.
Parents with cords still hanging. Let the baby go. Live a life with your spouse. Children can grow at their own pace. You dun have to keep watching them. They will still grow without your supervision (like when they are sleeping).
Yellow boxes February 23, 2007

Military is the first place to test new systems.
One of the greatest invention is the yellow box. Ask any men who served national service before last year and you will find that the yellow box is actually a designated smoking corner.
Now, it has been brought to the common public. Everyone should know what a yellow box is.
Of course, in supposedly classy joints, there is only an imaginery yellow box. But in order to be even more classy, some places decided to ban smoking just so to appease the mighty garment.
Thats all good. Except that…
I borrow this remark – ‘You start seeing people smoking in all the odd places. Like a stairwell between a nice hotel entrance and the car park. And all of them are nicely dressd but sitting on the stairs.’
That conjures up the image of all those HK gangsters movies. Waiting for the bosses.
Garment ah garment…what you doing? Telling people to invest money and also telling them how to do business. You are running an island or running a business. Wait…what am I saying…Of coz….A privatized company is responsible for it own profits (even though they have taken people’s money from the initial investment) and has no obligations (anymore) to the people (who has contributed to the investment dollars).
Its almost like me asking you to invest in me and later I asked u to go **** yourself as I have no obligation to you.

Good words are for the heart. Any way else is flattery.
I have no good words for you. Only a wish that the new year will bring new hope and many blessings.
There seem to be many changes. Someone is hurt. I do not know what it mean anymore. It doesnt matter. Its not fair. But thats a part of life. Its not about fairness, its about growth. I have no good words for someone. I am not sure if feeling hurt is bad or not feeling anything any more is bad.
We are all marked in some ways through time. We grow to move on with it. Strengthening us. Enriching us. Enhancing us. We grow in ways to allow us to survive the trials. And after that, we move more than survival. We start enjoying the silence. We grow above the need of materials. We are happy with ourselves. And we are then happy with what we are presented with.
Happy New Year to you. May this year be a properous one for you.

Thats the first thing I noticed when I parked my car in the car park. Then I think to myself. I dun need high voltage to kill me. A 12V battery is capable of killing me.

Edge of civilization February 14, 2007

Finally, civilization again. I had have problems connecting to the net for the last couple of days in Shen zhen. For some reasons, this and various blog site doesnt seem to exist. Oh well…we should all know why.
Went to Da Fen Oil Painting Village. 2 things which are abundance there. Painting and children. No real originality in any of the art. Its copy. The only pride is the interpretation of colours. You see a few bookstores there with people pouring with all concentration, seemingly trying to remember the art pieces and to reproduce it. If you like a painting but not the price, shop a bit more…you will be sure to find similiar pieces. I bought 3 pieces for less than $100.
I thinking a lot about Chancery. I was riding along this highway when the thought that she would love to be on that road struck me. Ya…my mind slipped again.
WoW isn’t working either. Sux.
