Mocca.com is a latest effort by mediacorp.  Heavily advertised on TV, radio and prints.  For that amount of money, I would think that they will actually do something good with their website.  To my horror, its totally sub standard.  The listings are difficult to browse through as it list from the latest ads and the sorting (or searching for information) is totally difficult to read.

88DB.com or sgcarmart is doing a much better job.

During my surfing today, I found this interesting bit of information about pet travelling with SIA.  They state:

Pets Not Accepted for Travel

Some animals are prohibited from travel on our flights.
They are the following:

  • Household pets (dogs and cats) less than 6 months old
  • All birds, except for farmed ostriches, emus, and birds shipped between government zoos
  • Pigs (on all passenger aircraft)
  • All primates intended for research purposes
  • All snub-nosed dogs such as Pekinese, Shih-Tzus, Boxers, Bulldogs, and Pugs
  • The following dog breeds and their cross-breeds:
    • All Terriers
    • All Boxers
    • All Pugs
    • All Bulldogs
    • All Spaniels
    • All Mastiff
    • Brussels Griffin
    • Chow Chow
    • Japanese Chin
    • Lhasa Apso
    • Pekinese
    • Pit Bull
    • Shar Pei
    • Shih Tzu
    • Tosa
    • Akita
    • Dogo Argentino
    • Fila Brazillero & their crosses

So basically, its almost all dog breeds are not allowed.  Then just tell me which are the dog breeds allow already?!!

AND!!  There is no mention that you cannot bring reptilian pets up!!  Hmmm…now I know how that show about snakes on a plane comes about.

Have you ever seen the Crimson Sunbird before in this little island?

Up to a minute ago, I did not even know that this little island has this bird as its national bird.  It looks good enough, but I have not even seen it once before.

It is a strange concept that one would only fall in love with a married person coz if they are single, it is heart breaking to hear that they are marrying someone else.

I am single now.  But will not be so in another few months.  Then I will be in the available category.  It is such a warped concept that I have a lot of problem understanding it.

If you agree with it, I suggest you seek professional help.

一百万 – One million October 21, 2007

I have many encounters this weekend.  Let’s start from the bad…

As I am trying to get a venue for my wedding luncheon, I had several appointments on saturday.  2 hotels surprised me with their service…or sublevel service.

1)  Regent Hotel – To keep it simple, the staff told me that the date I wanted is available.  I went to the hotel to meet her with the intention to make the booking.  The next morning, I received an email stating that I have to wait 4 days as there was a tentative booking.

2)  Grand Copthorne Waterfront – I was early and didnt bring down the direct number of the person in charge.  I went to the concierge and was not noticed during the 10minutes I was there.  So I went to the reception counter as there were more than just 1 staff working there.  A Chinese staff went into the counter, and I asked him to check with his catering sales department if there is an Elizabeth whom I had an appointment with.  His response was ‘Do you know the extension?’, ‘Who are you looking for?’ and ‘Do you know the extension?’.  Sigh… the hotel should just sink to the bottom of the waterfront with this level of service at the frontline.

In another task of getting my darling a new phone, we decided to go to China Town to get a Nokia E65.  Not a new new model, but both of us like the design and it is functionally sound.  Went through about 5 shops with the quotes from $490 (shop didnt have the colour we want) to $560 (the highest price offered by the shop with the worst location).  And those prices are without GST…hrmpphhh… The staff there are like those who will laugh and tell you ‘how cheap’ their prices are already.  So after some thinking, my dear dear decided not to get her phone just yet.  On the way to our next appointment, I asked if she wanted to drop by City Plaza to take a look.  We went to the first phone shop we saw on the inside of the building.   There was a guy who immediately give us a smile when we asked about the price of E65.  His offered was $480…and he included the GST when I asked for it.  Then he went on to sell us the screen protector (guarantee-ing that there will be no bubbles or our money back)and the memory card upgrade.  His offer of memory upgrade even comes with some downloads as he has ‘a lot of chinese songs’.  That offer just keep replaying in my mind.  He is so funny.  He even offered the option of an additional battery and he will throw in a desktop charger for free.  Given time, he will sell us a kitchen sink.  But despite that, he is attentive and a good salesperson who offered options but understanding that a ‘no’ is a no.  (William, thank you for bringing a smile to me this day)

In any case, the funniest thing from the phone purchase is this song that was a free download from him.  Ignore the video, which doesnt make sense to me.  But the song is extremely funny to me.  Enjoy… www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDEnNAqpia8
