The wedding April 28, 2008

I had been through many weddings. Never thought that I will be enjoying myself this much in my own. It was a good day. I am happy that so many friends and relatives came to celebrate the day with us. There are more photos taken but they are still being processed. I want to put what I have up first.

The day started out with a bit of panic when the table arrangement had some unexpected changes. But the Regent Hotel banquet staff is amazingly adaptable to our wimps and wants. They also reacted very well to make my big day a successs. Kudos to all the staff of Regent Hotel.
This photo series started when we arrived at Regent Hotel from my bride’s matrimonial home. It was a fine day. The hottest day that I remembered yet in this year.

We came to the hotel to do the tea ceremony for my side of the family. My grandmother was absolutely near tears. That came as a surprise to me.
My sister receiving her ang baos after offering tea to us.

My beautiful bride..Yvonne.

The female side of my family looking at some ‘Facebook’ shots that my sister has taken for her Facebook.

My uncle and my sister posing for a shot.

The solemnization process started.

Here’s the story..Before the start of the process, Dennis pulled me aside and told me ‘Just remember one thing…I DO! and say it with conviction.’ There was this script in front of the officiating person and I was reading my supposedly responses from there, even though its upside down. But at one point, he tilted the script towards himself and continued to ask if I will do my best as a husband for Yvonne. At this point, my mind went blank and only the image of Dennis came up.
The words were ‘I do’. So I simply uttered ‘I do’. Then I was asked if I am willing to take Yvonne as my wife. So the part about saying ‘I do’ with ‘conviction’ came to my mind. So I said it loudly ‘I do!’. That drew a cheer from the family and guests. And a gleeful moment for me.

I really still don’t remember much except Dennis’ face in my mind. We sneaked a little kiss before we were supposed to.

After this, we had a little break before lunch began. It almost look like some corporate meeting.

The reception started and some good looking guests at the reception table.

There are many more to show, but I had to move on for now. Before we started sitting our guests, Yvonne posed for this pic.

And our march in.. I had wanted to use the ‘Imperial March’ for us. But its just a wee bit on the Dark side. So we use the ‘Imperial March’ for my Emcees (My bro Sam and Angela…I havent got the pictures with them in it yet though), and Canon in D from the library of the hotel.

An Impromptu toasting started before we officially did.

Here’s the champagne pouring and toasting…

My bro’s speech is as touching as it is action packed. Thanks Bro!

At one point during his speech, he mentioned that I have met Yvonne and she reminded me so much of Teresa Teng. That is when I shouted back ‘Rosamund Kwan La!’, that sent a ripple of laughter through the crowd. If you ever meet my darling, she does have some resemblance to the latter.
Things that I do not understand about a wedding… April 28, 2008

1) Brides wanting to change from their gown to another equally complicated one. They spent so much time stuck in the make up room that they are missing the wedding. Why do most of them kick up such a big fuss when most of the time, they aren’t even there? You think that anyone else will remember what is worn in a week time or so? During the bride change of gowns, I talked to so many people, mingling, did some impromptu toasting, exchange latest updates of other peoples lives (aka gossips).. etc. A fashion show most happening moments are while the model is on the stage. If the model keeps hiding in the back to ‘change’, I doubt she will get a lot of show time.
2) The guys wanting to drink the groom and/or bride to the ground. Being high is good enough, but happiness in Asia seems to be when the body hits the floor.
3) Why do people want advance notice for the invitation? A number of people cannot come anyways after they agreed to, coz of work travel schedule. In fact, some of those who got less than 2 weeks notice came and been great company. I really cant be bothered with morons who feel offended but want to act that they are not. Besides, I can’t help it if you hardly check in with me about the latest happenings in my life.
4) There are lots of details to the wedding. I did not even bother myself with a lot of them. My guest list consists of people in various groups. They can seat themselves within a certain range of tables. People who are familiar with each other tend to gravitate towards each other anyways. So I had only 1 person to attend to my guest list, and she was complaining the whole time that I am snatching away her job. My darling had 3 persons helping and its still require her attention. Yvonne wanted a specific version of the video presentation that she prepared. She was outside with me waiting for our 2nd march in. Does anyone else know even if there is a mistake? Make the general decision but let the coordinators have a free hand in the matter. I even let my bro Alvin decide what song to be used for second march in. Honestly, I didnt hear the song at all. All that filled my head was how happy I am when I was walking down the aisle.

Over the past week, this story is raging across the news channel. The police (Texas Rangers) had raided a ‘Yearning For Zion’ group’s compound in Eldorado, Texas, housing a community who practices polygamy.
They have seized 416 children from the compound and placing them under foster care.
Breaking records – Tasteless BBQ April 16, 2008

Breaking records may not always be a good thing. Recently, a piece of news is very disgusting to me. Its the record breaking BBQ session by a beef producing country.
So they broke the record, and its recorded in the Guiness Book of record. So they now have an excessive amount of food to go to waste when some countries in the world is going hungry.
Rockin you April 16, 2008

We will rock you by Queen and Ben Elton. Its one of the best musical experience that I had. Besides the normal stage design and casting… part of the production that really impresses me is the feeling of isolation when the Corporation is being presented and the sense of freedom and engagement when the Bohemians are on stage.
Standing crowd for ending of the show in Singapore. Now that is impressive.
I didnt particularly like the Killer Queen in this cast, but she is irritating enough for the role…I guess she is the bad guy after all.
MiG Ayesa…now this guy is good.
