H1N1 – The nightmare begins.. June 30, 2009

H1N1…The nicer name for the swine flu.  Its a flu virus that was transmitted from a human to a pig and back to a human.  Not sure if its the same human.  During each transmission, the virus mutated..grew more resilient and viola… a virus outbreak.

After the SARS incident, we are seeing a lot more lip service from the media and all affected companies, agencies, etc etc.

-  Newspaper advised us to maintain cleanliness.  There was this big article about how we should wash our hands.  As if that is going to help.

-  Coastal police said that they are separating officers so that contact is minimal and they can continue to operate….This was AFTER they found a cluster among them.  Precautionary huh…

-  Republic Polytechnic…The largest cluster discovered to date.  They made a big announcement about how they are taking care of the situation.  Actually, they had only quarantine those on the same floor of the campus.  Other students are required to continue to go to the campus for classes…where they share the same lift, canteen and other common areas.  How dumb can you be?  You are supposed to be educators, think tanks, the hope of our future.  Damn… RP is so dumb.  Seem like all they care about is their performance results at the end of the year.

On a side note, the Year2 and Year3 students have supposedly signed a petition to allow them to avoid going to campus like the Year1 (who was on the one level of campus).  The school said that they never received such petition.  The students have no idea where the petition went or who has ever held on to the list.  Great job once again in educating our young.  The students dun even know how to do a petition of that scale.  Gawd…..

Transformer 2 June 26, 2009

Have you watched the Revenge of the Fallen?

transformers-revenge-of-the-fallen

If you have not, please go and catch it.  It is such a fantastic movie.  The reason that it was fantastic:

-  They slowed down the fighting in bullet time style.  No longer will you see a ball of metal rolling back and forth when an autobot engaged a decepticon.

-  They showed the current small team of autobots are the elite in their class and the reason why Decepticons fear a single Optimus Prime.  Hey…1 on 3 fighting scene (where Optimus battle Decepticons in the forested area) is so damn cool lor.

-  They added Soundwave.  Much to outcry of the fans that Soundwave, who was always the scout for Decepticons in the original series, was left out of the roster, Michael Bay actually prominently let everyone knows that the Decepticon who took over the satelite is SOUNDWAVE!!!  But still no casette tape.

-  The old Blackbird Decepticon turned Autobots.  It really give an insight that every being has a choice.  They are not bonded by how they were created into.

-  Comic relief:  There are tons of comic relief in the movie.  Its almost a comedy.  But its not tacky jokes.  Everyone in the cinema bursted out laughing.

There are quite a few things I do not like as well.

-  Why do Optimus always have to die?  Great warrior he is, but he is always dying due to his compassion…in every freaking series.

-  The storyline is so duh.  Ok, its transformer…we dun expect it to win any drama awards…CGI maybe.

-  Megan Fox… I dun know.  Is her role even necessary?

-  The human lady transformer… You mean even Bumblebee cannot detect that she is a decepticon??? Come on…

Edited:  After thinking about this for a couple of days, I think I figured out what is wrong with the movie.  They tried to change the focus of Transformers to the human beings.

I do not know which hole you may have been in if you have not heard this by now…. Michael Jackson is dead.

It is saddening.  There is no personal reason to.  But there is a sadness to hear such a news.  Towards the last decade, MJ has been criticized and scrutinized for much of his personal life.  I never taken a view on such news.  To me, celebrities are humans too.  They choose what and how they want to be.  It is a personal decision.  Some people have a craving to know, maybe.  Being a celebrity also means that they are selling their lives to be under the microscope the whole time.  So people, who wanted to walk the path of fame, are basically signing up for giving up their privacy.

I remember well when MJ’s ‘Thriller’ album hit Singapore.  It was such a hit.  That is hopefully how his image will be remembered.

Crossing that road June 11, 2009

It amazes me at how people crossing the road.  They can be on their handphone, they can be talking to their kids and many other things that require them to not pay attention to the surrounding conditions.  Drivers are supposed to give way but what happen if a driver is not paying attention?  Its a damage on a car vs their lives.

The other thing that amazes me is some people who rushes towards a zebra crossing.  I understand the need to rush a blinking green man, but a zebra crossing?  Just let those cars go… the ones behind should stop for you once you reach the road.
